Primary Care resources

The Network is working with our GP leads and clinical networks to bring together resources that are useful to Primary Care to diagnose and manage cancer.  Resources relevant to cancer types are linked to the left.

Cancer intelligence

Practice level and CCG cancer profiles are available which contain a number of metrics to help provide intelligence relating to cancer care.

Awareness and early diagnosis Primary Care pack

The Network has produced a pack containing tools to support primary care improve early diagnosis. Many of the tools and templates make good subjects for QOF and revalidation. We encourage all practices to consider how they could use the tools in the pack to improve practice.

Risk Assessment Tools

The Network is working with GP cancer leads to test the use of QCancer and RAT risk assessment tools.  These tools can be used to supplement the guidance above and are designed to help GPs identify patients suitable for referral.

Patient information

When patients are referred for suspected cancer or receive a diagnosis of cancer it is important that they receive relevant information.  The Network is implementing an information prescriptions  service to ensure that patients are given consistent and up to date information so they can make informed decisions along their pathway.
